New this year! Spring Insight will host a Steps to Enrollment session to walk admitted students through the process of enrolling as a student at UCSB. All are welcome!

For families who cannot visit the campus in person, UCSB will host a Virtual Open House event on Tuesday, April 15. The online event is open to counselors and students from 1-8 p.m. PST.

Ask UCSB Admissions

How does my student accept an offer of admission?
Students may submit a Statement of Intent to Register (SIR) electronically through the Application Status site. Freshman applicants have until May 1 and transfer applicants have until June 1 to decide.

Can students appeal their admission decision?
Yes. Students can visit the Appeal Process page for information on how to appeal admission decisions. Freshman applicants must appeal by April 15 and transfer applicants must appeal as soon as possible before August 1.

Does UCSB have a waitlist?
Yes, the waitlist is designed for freshman applicants who were not offered admission due to space limitations but who were considered excellent candidates for admission, should space become available. Freshman applicants placed on the waitlist will be notified in their Application Status portal. Students must "opt in" to the waitlist by April 15.

What percentage of freshmen were admitted for fall 2014?
The Office of Admissions sent offers of admission to 36% of freshman applicants.

Can students defer their admission to another quarter?
Students must reapply for the term they wish to attend. The Office of Admissions cannot guarantee that they will be accepted for a future term. When reapplying, students should let the office know that they were accepted for the fall 2014 term. Performance in the senior year and what the student has done in the interim will be considered.

How can transfer applicants get their questions answered?
Transfer applicants can visit the Webinars and Online Events page to learn more about one-on-one Virtual Transfer Appointments and Gaucho Online Thursdays, webinar events tailored specifically for transfer applicants scheduled in May.

I have a question I want to see answered in Horizons. What should I do?
